Mountain streams meander down the terrain and join forces in a cascading series of mossy falls. Average rainfall of 47 inches and snow melt from the coastal mountain range provide dramatic scenery and gorgeous backdrops with moss covered waterfalls, fern canyons and majestic boulders. Over 600 feet of elevation change on the property offers a wide range of vistas, microclimates, and constantly changing perspectives. Seasonal variations provide dramatic changes in color, as the hillsides, vineyards, and gardens come alive with vibrant hues. Walls of smooth stones in natural concretions provide clues to the ancient geography of the region and native artifacts tell tales of the 12,000+ years of human history. The property was utilized as a winter camp by indigenous peoples that enjoyed the oak trees, clean water, and access to the nearby salmon and trout fishing. The farm sits between the headwaters of the Russian river and the Eel river, and is blessed with abundant water and sunshine. We are grateful for the magical surroundings and honored to be raising a family on this land.
"The three realms of existence are like a cloud in autumn:
The birth and the death of beings is like a dancer’s movement;
A being’s life is like a waterfall,
Like a flash of lightning in the sky;
It never stops even for a single moment and once it starts,
It goes inevitably to its conclusion."
"Advice from a River - Go with the flow, immerse yourself in nature, slow down and meander, go around the obstacles, be thoughtful of those downstream, stay current, the beauty is in the journey!"
"Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it."
- Lao Tzu
"Study how water flows in a valley stream, smoothly and freely between the rocks. Also learn from holy books and wise people. Everything, even mountains, rivers, plants, and trees, should be your teacher."
“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.”
- Bruce Lee
"Water is the driving force of all nature."
- Leonardo da Vinci
