Mossy Falls Farm® is a certified organic family owned and operated small farm. We are a sustainable agricultural producer, meeting the needs of the present without sacrificing the opportunities of the future. We operate the farm using holistic management, vegetable rotations, organic compost, cover crops, manure from our sheep and llamas, and supplemental organic amendments as the basis for our regenerative agriculture strategy. We raise our family on the same food we sell, and we are 100% committed to organic agriculture, so we never use synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides, absolutely no dangerous chemicals or sprays. We undergo a thorough and comprehensive audit and inspection annually by CCOF to maintain our organic certification. The seed stocks we plant are all organic, non-gmo, open-pollinated and heirloom varieties, and our fresh fruit and produce is all grown as nature intended, with clean water, rich compost, living soil, light and love.
"There seem to be but three ways for a nation to acquire wealth. The first is by war, as the Romans did, in plundering their conquered neighbors. This is robbery. The second is by commerce, which is generally cheating. The third by agriculture, the only honest way, wherein a man receives a real increase of the seed thrown into the ground, in a continual miracle wrought by the hand of God in his favor, as reward for his innocent life and his virtuous industry."

Agroecology & Sustainability
We believe in growing and saving rare, open pollinated heirloom seeds, and we raise breeds and varieties that are well adapted to our Mediterranean climate. By growing organically, diversifying and rotating crops, and utilizing companion planting, we are creating natural ecosystems and inviting garden friendly insects as biological pest control. Chickens, llamas, and sheep benefit from the bountiful yields out of our gardens, and the plants love the rich compost that the animals provide. Mutually beneficial relationships between the elements of our farm lead to happier, healthier micro-organisms and soil, which in turn feeds plants, livestock, farmers and community.
Dorset Horn sheep, Hungarian Puli and Komondor dogs are amazing animals that greatly contribute to a a sustainable farm, and because they are rare and endangered breeds, they benefit greatly from responsible breeding and ownership. Together, we are maintaining healthy populations of these ancient breeds; protecting them from extinction, and preserving their traits and characteristics for future generations.
We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors,
we borrow it from our children.
